An Event Apart - Minneapolis 2010

Another great AEA ended yesterday. Three sold out shows in a row. Always enjoy going to these conferences above some I've been to in the past. What sets An Event Apart apart from other shows is that you get to see all the speakers. Other conferences have a layered structure where you have to pick what you'll attend and what you'll have to miss.

Not only can you ask just about anything you want to the speakers (like Jeffery Zeldmen, Eric Meyer, Jared Spool, Dan Cederholm, Luke Wroblewski and Dave Shea) after their session, you'll find them at the parties and breakfasts as well. And, they don't act like sorority sisters!

Someone commented that there was no paper distributed during the show. In fact, most of the communication was through Twitter via afeedapart.com. The effect was like being at a rock concert with a silent audience. At times I found it distracting while speakers were... speaking. Like when someone tweeted, "Where's everyone going to eat after #aea?".

A high concentration on mobile, HTML 5 and CSS 3 this time. There are now so many different types of devices that have very modern browsers supporting the latest technology. We need to develop mobile content on more general terms instead of 'made for iPhone', 'made for Android', 'made for Blackberry', 'made for iPad' or 'made for 1024x768'. With mobile devices' modern browsers supporting modern technology, we no longer need 'm.site.com' or 'site.com/iphone' - just 'site.com' for everyone.
